How you can set up a safe email account for your child!
Some email services can be set up to work with this program to control how your child can use their email account. One of these is MSN Hotmail. The service is free and I will be using it in my example. Following these instructions will block all incoming email containing porn, chat rooms, and etc. and help you control who your child can send to and receive emails from.
After you have activated your new Hotmail account, open it up and enter the password. Across the top you will see a selection titled [options]. Select this option and set the "Junk Mail Filter" to [Exclusive]. Set "Junk Mail Deletion" to [Immediate]. Now go back to the inbox and select [addresses]. Enter the addresses of the people you want to allow your child to communicate with.
Next open up Setup and add the key phrases [hotmail options], and [hotmail create new]. "Hotmail options" will block any attempt to reset the options and "hotmail create new" will prevent adding names to the address book while still allowing normal use of it.
Check your log periodically to be sure that a new email account has not been opened. If you find a new one, just add the title from the log to your keywords list to completely block its use.
Tell your child to always use the address book when sending an email. If you see an entry in the log titled [Hotmail Compose], that is not preceeded by [Hotmail Address Book], your child may be sending emails to someone who is not in the address file. A reply by that person will be blocked by the Hotmail Filter.
